Measuring Hints

First a note of caution...

All the blinds we manufacture are custom made to your exact specifications. Please measure carefully, and double-check your measurements.

HOW TO TAKE A TEMPLATE:

1. Completely cover the window opening with heavy paper and tape into place.
2. Mark the room side of the paper with the word "face".
3. Using a sharp blade or knife, cut the paper as follows:
   Inside mount blind:
   Cut the paper along the exact inside opening of the window.
   Outside mount blind:
   Cut the paper the exact size you want the blind to be. (If you want the blind to sit out over the window by 1", cut the template 1" to the outside of the opening.)
4. Draw a diagram of the window to be covered on the face of the template, indicating top and bottom, and showing (to the nearest 1/8) the exact inside measurements of the window.
5. Roll or fold the template and ship in an envelope or tube to the attention of your contact at the company.

Note: DO NOT USE newspaper, wallpaper or lightweight paper that might tear. Avoid using crumpled paper, which will distort your template and finished product. Unacceptable templates will be returned to you to be re-done.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR WINDOWS FOR BLINDS:

Inside Mount

1. Measure the casing depth.
2. Measure the width of the window at top, middle and bottom, to the nearest 1/8". Record the narrowest measurement (A-1).
3. Measure the height from the top of the window sill to the bottom of the window sill or to desired length (A-2).

Outside Mount

1. Measure the exact width you want your shade to cover (B-1). It is customary to measure from the outside trim to the outside trim.
2. Measure the exact length you want the shade to cover (B-2), Keep in mind where you want to mount the blind, and allow for the extra length needed.

Don't forget to specify left or right controls, extension installation brackets or hold down brackets, if applicable.
